Notes and terms

Using this template

Describe the work, not just the hours

Clients approve invoices faster when each line says what they received: “Homepage design, two rounds of revisions” rather than “Design work”. Use one line per deliverable, or one per milestone if you bill in stages, and put the project name in the Project field so the client’s accounts team can route it.

Payment terms that get you paid

State the due date, how to pay (bank transfer details, a payment link) and the reference to use. If you charge for late payment, say so here in plain words. The template keeps your business details and logo for the next invoice, and numbers it automatically.

Frequently asked questions

Should a freelancer invoice by the hour or by the project?

Either works with this template. For a fixed fee, use quantity 1 and the agreed price. For hourly work, put the hours in the quantity column and your hourly rate in the rate column.

Do I need to add tax as a freelancer?

That depends on where you and your client are and on your situation, so the site cannot tell you. If you charge a tax, add it in “Discount, tax and shipping” with the rate you were told to use; if not, leave the tax empty and it does not appear.

Where is my data stored?

Only in your browser. The document on screen and the drafts you save are kept in this browser’s local storage, and the PDF is drawn on your device. Nothing is uploaded, and you can clear everything from the Drafts panel.

Is it really free? Is there a watermark?

Yes, it is free, with no account, no watermark and no limit on the number of documents. The site may show ads around the editor, never on the document.
